2012 — Group Print Exhibition
Aria Gallery, Tehran
This project was part of a group exhibition in which artists were invited to illustrate 50 stories from One Thousand and One Nights.
Two stories were assigned to me, and rather than attempting a complete visual retelling, I approached them as condensed sequences of images. Each story unfolded through four equally sized frames, as if large portions of the text had been removed, leaving behind only a few words, scenes, or visual clues.
In each sequence, one frame was dedicated to Scheherazade—not as a character within the story itself, but as the narrator and connecting thread between narratives.
Executed as print works, the pieces were structured less as standalone images and more as pages from a graphic novel. Fragmented narratives emerged in the spaces between the frames, leaving parts of the stories untold and inviting the viewer to complete them through imagination.
